How to care for glassware
Your glassware deserves careful treatment, especially if it is colored or decorated with screen printing. Incorrect washing in the dishwasher or the use of excessively hot water and abrasive sponges can compromise the brilliance and durability of the colors.
Let's take a look at how to care for glassware, so you can wash it correctly and give it the attention it deserves, ensuring your tableware is always in perfect condition.
In the dishwasher
- To prevent the color from losing its brilliance, it is best to wash glasses at low temperatures (45-50 degrees Celsius), with short cycles and without aggressive detergents.
- Where possible, use the special program dedicated to washing glasses.
- Empty and rinse glasses if they contain any drink residue before placing them in the dishwasher for washing. The acids present in fruit juices, for example, can alter the quality of the water and therefore the washing itself.
- Care must also be taken when loading the dishwasher: glasses (and wine glasses) must have enough space between them so that they do not knock against each other or other objects, such as cutlery or cups, in order to avoid chipping or damage.
- When washing glasses in the dishwasher, they should be placed in the top rack and secured in the appropriate holders, including for wine glasses, so that they do not move during washing.
- To avoid stains and cloudiness on the surface of the glasses, it is advisable to use soft water or water with a low mineral content.
- Ensure that the rinse aid is dosed correctly.
- Once the wash cycle is complete, open the dishwasher door to allow the hot steam to escape, thus avoiding the risk of clouding on the surface of the glasses.
- In the case of colored glasses and goblets, however, to preserve their color and brilliance for as long as possible, it is recommended to wash them by hand, avoiding the use of abrasive sponges. Sporadic washing in the dishwasher, if done with the necessary precautions, can still be carried out.
By hand
- To wash glasses by hand, use lukewarm water, a soft sponge, and a good quality mild detergent. Finally, rinse thoroughly.
- Avoid using abrasive sponges, which could damage both the color and decoration of the glasses or goblets.
- Once you have finished washing by hand, you must also dry the glasses thoroughly to avoid streaks or cloudiness.
- To dry glasses after washing them by hand, it is best to use soft microfiber cloths, which should be washed periodically without the use of fabric softeners.
- Do not hold the glasses by the stem while drying them, for greater safety and to avoid accidental drops.
- Avoid drying glasses and goblets upside down on metal surfaces to prevent unpleasant chipping and clouding of the items.
Weissestal glasses and goblets are all made in Italy from 100% high-quality materials. Taking care of them is therefore a true act of love to preserve their durability, so that they always remain the stars of the table without ever losing their beauty.
Please note:
Weissestal clear glass glasses and goblets can be washed in the dishwasher with the necessary precautions, while for colored glass glasses and goblets, in order to preserve their color and brilliance for as long as possible, we recommend washing them by hand on a daily basis, avoiding the use of abrasive sponges.
