A long history of passion, artistry, and international vision gave rise to Noritake, a brand with roots dating back to 1876, when brothers Ichizaemon and Toyo Morimura, driven by a desire to enrich Japan through foreign trade, founded a general store in New York and a trading company in Tokyo. Their pioneering intuition set in motion a journey that would profoundly influence the Japanese porcelain industry.
Noritake's technical expertise encompasses all stages of porcelain production: from the selection and blending of raw materials to the formulation of pigments and gold for decoration, to the application of the most advanced printing and firing technologies. In this process, art and science blend harmoniously.
In 1897, a select group of engineers was sent to Europe to study the art of white porcelain in depth. Upon their return in 1899, an experimental laboratory was set up in Nagoya, laying the technical and artistic foundations for Noritake's future identity.
The Morimura family's entrepreneurial dream came true in 1904 with the founding of the first factory in Nagoya: thus, the Noritake brand was officially born, destined to become a benchmark in the modernization of the art of porcelain in Japan.
Over time, Noritake has been able to combine traditional craftsmanship with technological innovation, making quality and elegance the hallmarks of its production. Manual techniques, fueled by an artistic sensibility that only human intervention can guarantee, allow the creation of unique objects, with attention to the smallest details, capable of transforming into authentic masterpieces.
