What does a wedding designer do? Let’s find out together with La Sposa degli Alberi
Not just chefs, food bloggers, or lovers of beautiful table settings. We also collaborate with unique professionals who use their imagination to bring a dose of creativity that is essential for communicating our porcelain lines in the best possible way. Today, we meet Mary Tricarico - La sposa degli alberi, who has been supporting us for a long time in the creation of original content.
Mary, tell us something about yourself and your business.
My name is Mary Tricarico and I am the founder of La Sposa degli Alberi - ideas and settings for weddings. I am not a wedding planner but a very specific professional figure. I am a set designer and wedding designer, and I study, design, and create the entire aesthetic layout of the wedding. As a designer, I pay close attention to the study of spaces, context, color, and the right definition of the style that best characterizes the couple. For me, every wedding has an exclusive signature, tells a story, and evokes emotions.
How are events going in the wedding sector and what is the outlook for the near future?
After the big waves of Covid, events are finally picking up again. Fortunately, despite the fear of recent years, many couples still want to fulfill their dream of love. However, something has changed. Couples are more aware of the unexpected, so they are more attentive to all the contractual aspects, want to invest their budget wisely, and need to be reassured. Many couples also want to celebrate in a more intimate way, looking for locations that allow them to be more in touch with nature and make the most of the outdoors. Personally, I am happy with these new requirements, as I am also a proponent of smaller, more heartfelt weddings, especially those in close contact with nature.
What was the atmosphere like at weddings in 2022?
In 2022, there were definitely a lot of weddings. The sector got back into full swing after Covid because couples now want to celebrate. The atmosphere was definitely peaceful and festive compared to the very few weddings celebrated in 2021, when several restrictions were still in place.
What are the secrets of a wedding designer? Can you reveal some of them?
A wedding designer must know how to evoke emotion and, consequently, must know how to convey the bride and groom, their character, and their story through every aesthetic detail.
- The first secret is knowing how to decipher the color palette. Color is the basis of everything. Color is synonymous with emotion, context, season, style, and character. Studying the right colors for a wedding is the first essential step in developing the entire style board, or what is known in English as a mood board. A wedding project cannot exist without underlying study and research.
- The second secret is to describe my work as an experience. Because that's what it's all about. With each couple, I embark on a personalized, tailor-made journey that is capable of creating engagement. The bride and groom must be able to feel like an active part of their project and, above all, they must feel represented in every aesthetic aspect.
- The third secret is confidence. You need to be able to convey peace of mind to the bride and groom. Every couple has their own needs and fears, so you need to be able to take them by the hand, guide them, and reassure them, making the preparations a beautiful and unforgettable experience rather than a race against time.
What is essential in the planning of your events?
What can never be missing from my planning is the study of the concept and the structural color scheme. The concept is the message that conveys the aesthetic and style characteristics designed for a particular couple. For example, the setting for a wedding could be:
DELICATE || BOTANICAL || BOHEMIAN
or
FRESH || NATURAL || CONVIVIAL
and so on, depending on the personality of the bride and groom.
Structural color harmony
(a term I coined in my work methodology) refers to the ability to contextualize. Contextualizing means harmonizing color and style choices within an architectural structure or natural environment without altering the authenticity of the surrounding space.
Soon we will discover more interesting details about Mary's work. Don't miss our updates on the blog!
