The collections by Salvatore Izzo

Apulia, Hive, and Coral. These are the evocative names of the beautiful collections designed for Weissestal by Salvatore Izzo, an interior designer specializing in American style, for a modern, elegant, and always classy table. The dinnerware and coffee cups, as well as accessories such as bowls, teapots, soup tureens, milk jugs, sugar bowls, and salad bowls, are complemented by 12 kt gold thread decoration that embellishes each item. 

We asked Salvatore to introduce himself and illustrate his lines, to find out what inspires him and what drives his daily work. 

• Salvatore, tell us a little about yourself and your passion for beauty. 

My name is Salvatore Izzo, I am 35 years old and I am an interior designer by profession. I have made American style my trademark, my fingerprint, which is why my clients and my community consider me a point of reference when it comes to elegant, functional, and bright homes. I love white, giant fireplaces, white picket fences, kitchens with central islands, and custom-made furniture. In collaboration with various brands, I have designed a bed, a sofa, a collection of paintings, and a collection of tableware that bear my signature.  When I can't find what I like, I invent a way to create it from scratch. It's no coincidence that what I'm most passionate about is DIY design, low-cost solutions, and the hidden potential in objects. For this reason, I study systems and solutions that can completely revolutionize furniture, vases, and paintings, making them unique and interesting. I literally don't sleep at night so I can listen to my ideas. I believe in kindness, empathy, and the soul that I express especially when I'm at work. My creativity is voracious, constant, and insatiable. I need constant stimulation to be myself and, above all, to remind myself of something very important: to do well, I have to enjoy it! This is a mantra, or rather, a philosophy that I have fully embraced; I believe it is my only condition for giving meaning to this life. 

• What inspired you for the collections you designed for Weissestal?
  

The mother of all my inspirations is nature. Colors, suggestions, atmospheres. Natural elements influence me greatly. In my view, without observing what surrounds us, art cannot exist. We are constantly subjected to technological stimuli, to 3D and digitized versions of our lives, but we must not forget that air, water, earth, and fire are the cornerstones on which our entire existence revolves.

• Why did you choose Weissestal for the development of these ideas?

Weissestal perfectly embodies my creative principles: elegance, quality, and resourcefulness. These may seem like obvious values, but they are not. Today, companies want to focus entirely on guaranteed results, and this, in some ways, tears at the creative DNA of brands. It takes courage and a broader vision of the future to be able to rewrite the present. Weissestal manages to strike the perfect balance between rationality and creative flair, so the choice was natural for me; I couldn't imagine a better partner.

• Apulia, Coral, and Hive are the evocative names of the three lines created together: what do they mean to you and what do they symbolize?

The three lines have something in common, as I said before, namely nature. The common thread that leads me to the meaning of everything, to my primordial inspirations. For me, these collections symbolize the desire to surround oneself with beauty through decorative elements borrowed from the sea, recovered from trees, or from the animal kingdom. What was once the exclusive domain of nature now arrives on our tables to remind us of how much beauty surrounds us.
