In the kitchen with Thermomix
How wonderful it would be to have dinner ready every day without making a mess... Is that your dream? Well, it could come true! We asked Eleonora - Mamme con Bimby how life in the kitchen has changed with the famous robot that prepares dinner and leaves the stove clean. Curious to find out? Here's the full interview!
Eleonora, tell us a little about yourself and how your passion for good food began...
I'm Eleonora, a mom with a passion for cooking, traditional Romagna dishes, and desserts. I have a valuable ally in my Thermomix, which I use to experiment with new recipes every day. I live near the sea, but I love the mountains and whenever I can, I escape to the Dolomites with my family for long hikes and more: especially for the good food! My passion began when I was a child, passed on to me by my mother when we used to leaf through cookbooks and magazines together.
Your kitchen has a formidable ally: the Thermomix! Why did you choose to use it? How long have you been using it? Explain how it works, so we can create new fans!
When I got married in 2009, I wanted to treat myself to a Thermomix TM31 after seeing it at a demonstration at a friend's house. I was working as a beautician and had little time to cook, so I was impressed by the fact that with just one appliance I could steam, knead, prepare risottos, ice cream, and much more with minimal mess. After ten years of satisfaction, I bought the latest model, the Thermomix TM6, a real marvel that, in addition to the basic functions, even allows you to make homemade yogurt, cook sous vide, and many other things. It is simple and intuitive to use: a touch screen offers guided recipes, which is essential because it allows you to save a menu for every occasion.
How does using the Thermomix change your relationship with cooking?
Since I've had the Thermomix, I use the stove less and the kitchen stays cleaner.
What are the advantages and disadvantages (if any!) of using the Thermomix?
Let's start with the few disadvantages: you can't make large portions. However, it's perfect for 3-4 people. On the other hand, there are many advantages: you can cook a first course, second course, and side dish at the same time using the Varoma cooking method. For example: steam rice in the mixing bowl, place your choice of vegetables in the tray, and meat or fish in the upper tray, all without dirtying other pans or pots. You can also make excellent desserts, creams, and sorbets! Another advantage of the Thermomix is that it also has a self-cleaning mode.
You have created a wonderful, active community of people who are passionate about cooking and share your recipes. But where do you find the inspiration for the dishes you post on social media?
I am very happy with the path I have taken. I started out just for fun, and in just three years I have created a very active community of almost 23,000 followers that continues to grow. It is the people who follow me who very often give me the inspiration for new recipes, and the greatest satisfaction is when they replicate my dishes and send me photos and compliments. One of my biggest successes this year is the cloud pizza, which has literally taken off!
What dishes do you love to cook the most? And eat?
I definitely love preparing (and eating) desserts and first courses, but on the weekend, pizza is a must!
Cooking styles are changing and looking to the future, but when it comes to the table, do you prefer to be traditional or do you like to be daring with creative mise en place?
With Weissestal, you can indulge yourself! I am mostly traditional, but I don't mind a creative touch on certain occasions.
Our collections are often part of your everyday life. How important is a beautiful presentation, in your opinion? Which Weissestal line do you prefer?
A beautiful presentation is very important to do justice to the dish, as they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and with Weissestal, it's easy to achieve this goal. For the holidays, for example, the Elga Oro service is one of my favorites and helps to give the right atmosphere and importance to the event. For everyday use, the "Tile" line adds a touch of modernity and freshness to the table.
